Biography

Laura West has be creating artwork professionally for twenty years.  Although she has proficently done everything from painting watercolors to carving stone, her first love is casting metal.  Over the past several years, she has been branching out to include the use of digital processes to form her work.

Laura was born in South Texas on a rainy day.  She grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois, training horses and hiking through the woods.  In spite of dabbling in everything from physics to medicine, Laura recieved her BFA from Southern Illinois University and her MFA from Idaho State University.  Ms. West has taught under the big skies at Montana State University and in the industrial city of Trenton, NJ at the Johnson Atelier.

She currently is head of sculpture at Fresno City College in the golden state of California and maintains a studio in Madera, CA.
